Brothers, Visitors and Friends:

I am Brother Derricke Dennis, President and Charter Brother of the Sigma Chi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, and I am proud to lead this chapter of accomplished, dedicated and outstanding men of Alpha!

On behalf of the mighty Jersey City Alphas, our Vice President Anthony Lewis, and our Fall ‘'24 initiates — the 6 Pillars of Kemet — we welcome you to our online home.

Our chapter is seated in New Jersey’s second largest city — and fastest growing — known casually as  “Chilltown.” Chartered on October 24, 2020 at the height of the pandemic — we’ve come a long way with a serious focus on community service, Brotherhood, youth mentorship and social activities.

Additionally, our chapter has a physical symbol of our roots in Jersey City, with a tree planted in honor of one of our Fraternity’s Seven Jewels, the late George Biddle Kelley. He was a son of Jersey City by marriage. His wife, the late Harriet Gross, was a Jersey City native and a graduate of Dickinson High School. The couple married in 1934 and lived in Jersey City for a time before relocating to upstate New York.

Indeed, the Jersey City Alphas have a historic place in our city and together we are on the move!
